Income Protection is what Asteron Life describes as "Keep Your Lifestyle" insurance. The purpose is to help you keep on top of your everyday living expenses if you are unable to work for a while because of sickness or injury.

Asteron Life uses three separate definitions to assess whether you can make a claim under your IP cover, which widens the circumstances in which you will be able to qualify for payments. This system allows you to work up to 10 hours per week or earn up to 20% of your previous income. They also offer a generous extra payment during your first month back at work, because they recognise that you will still have bills to pay before you get paid for your first weeks' work.

Inclusive features of Asteron Life's Income Protection policies include limited death benefits of 3 or 6 times your monthly payment, and the automatic waiver of waiting periods for a list of specific injuries.

In addition to its standard level Income Protection cover, Asteron Life offers two other products in this range.

• Accident Only Cover is a low-cost, flexible option for people who are not eligible for or don't want income protection insurance. You can choose to have cover with no waiting periods so that you receive payments from the day you are injured.
• Income Protection Plus Cover offers extra protection with features like cover for the cost of child care, and boosted benefits with no waiting period for certain major conditions like cancer.
