ClearView LifeSolutions Income Protection

There are three LifeSolutions Income Protection products: 'accidental', 'standard' and 'plus' cover. You must be employed for at least 20 hours per week and aged between 18 and 60 to apply for one of these policies.

With each of these products you can choose your benefit period – either 2 or 5 years, or up to age 60, 65 or 70. The longer the benefit period, the higher your premiums are likely to be.

Many people rely on TAC or workers' compensation as a safety net in case they are unable to work for a while, but you will only be able to claim these if are actually injured at your workplace. ClearView's Income Protection insurance offers several advantages over workers' compensation, including:

  • cover for injuries acquired anywhere – including at home, while playing sports or out in the community;
  • cover for illness as well as injury if you choose LifeSolutions Income Protection or LifeSolutions Income Protection Plus;
  • the option of much longer benefit periods than offered by government workers assistance;
  • the option to insure higher amounts than will be paid under TAC or workers' compensation, capped by the amount of your income rather than national earnings averages.

If you buy LifeSolutions Income Protection Plus cover, any payments you receive under workers' or TAC compensation will not be offset against your monthly income protection benefits.

There are a number of integral benefits to LifeSolutions Income Protection insurance policies, including a death benefit of up to $60,000; and a 'relapse' benefit which may let you waive waiting periods if you suffer from the same illness or injury again within 12 months.
