Life Insurance: OneCare Life Cover
You can apply for a OneCare Life Cover policy up to the age of 75, although you will only be able to pay for your policy with 'stepped' premiums (meaning the amount you pay will increase each year) after age 60. There is no expiry age on your OneCare Life Cover if you buy it outside of your superannuation fund. Life Cover within superannuation will expire when you reach age 75.
You can insure a minimum of $50,000 under your OneCare Life Cover policy. There is no fixed maximum although OnePath may set a limit on the level of cover they are willing to provide to you. OnePath offers free, limited 'interim' insurance cover while it is considering your application.
Life Cover is a lump sum insurance which pays the insured amount to your beneficiaries if you die. It allows you to protect your family's future lifestyle and provide them with financial security even if you are not around to provide for them. You may be able to make an early claim on your OneCare Life Cover policy if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness. Your family can also apply for an advance payment of up to $25,000 to cover immediate costs such as funeral or medical expenses.
Special features of OneCare Life Cover include an additional 'orphan' benefit, which is a payment of $10,000 each for up to 3 dependent children if you and your spouse should die in the same accident.
