CommInsure Protection: Total Care Plan Trauma Cover

CommInsure's Total Care Plan Trauma Cover pays a lump sum benefit if you survive for 14 days after suffering from a specified medical condition or event. You can use the money for any purpose to help you recover or secure your financial stability.

Your right to claim under your trauma policy is not linked to whether or not you are able to continue working. However, CommInsure offers you an option to reduce your premiums with an 'evidence of severity' clause, which means that you will only be able to make a claim if you meet additional criteria, including that your injury or illness leaves you unable to return to work.

Total Care Plan Trauma Cover policies insure you for a defined list of serious illnesses and injuries, including a number of heart conditions, nervous disorders, cancers and injuries. A 'trauma plus cover' option allows you to extend the list of covered conditions to include some early-stage cancers and partial disabilities.

In some circumstances, such if you lose a hand or foot, you may be able to claim a partial payment of your trauma benefit. CommInsure offers a buy-back option which allows you to reinstate your insurance one year after you make a claim, if the remaining benefit has fallen below $10,000.

You can insure between $10,000 and $2,000,000 with your CommInsure trauma cover, either as an independent policy or in combination with Life Care and TPD Cover. If you combine your policies then your Trauma Cover cannot be for more than the amount of your Life Care benefit. CommInsure Total Care Plan Trauma Cover cannot be owned through superannuation.
